Question for jmark or booster, I understand you purchase parts BLP quite often, I was
wondering if you'd know if the 4150 cnc main bodies they sell are available in aluminum
they don't state in there write up it shows zinc. They don't show an email address for
support or questions. I'm on CST time it's to late to call.
If you've use any what do you think of them.
Thank you

I'm sure it's available in aluminum, why size are you looking for? Withe Quick Fuel you can get a 1.40, 1.45, 1.50, and 1.58 body all for a 1.75 throttle blade and no need to CNC. Any larger than 1.58 gets real tricky, I've seen 2 different bodies at 1.56 and above lose airflow when the angles are not right. The QF 1.58 and the Holley Ultra 850 bodies work well, the only ones bigger I would suggest is either the LBX billet oval blade or a 1.79TB/1.60V Braswell body.

Thanks for the info more then expected, one reason was I wanted to try a 1.45 primary and 1.56
secondary with annular front and step downleg rear for a nice responsive street carb and do it
in VS also. Also you say use a ultra 850 main body, I have boat load of holley parts around but
what is transferable from the old style to the ultra or is it just the main body.
Again thanks

It would depend on the engine and combination, but either a 1.50 or 1.58 with annulars in both might be the ticket. A custom body like what you are looking at would take time to get done, and be really costly. The QF bodies have the pads to make any a VS carb, it wouldn't be real cheap but certainly less than a custom body.

I've got 1050AN QFT carb I did change to VS, just need to bolt it on something and try it, the
other idea was just that I opened the window and throw that out. Thanks for the info, I was
curious though does a lot of the older 4150 stuff fit on the new ultra bodies or they pretty much
their own beast.
Thanks

It fits, you have to make adjustments for the 2 corner metering blocks.

Thank you for your time, you and tuner and a few others have really
helped make working on carbs fun.
