 Secondary Air Door opening

Since it's dead in here, let's talk about secondary air door opening.

Seems that this is one of those things that is surrounded by myth and urban legend (like most q-jet tuning "Secrets"). I would guess that larger openings flow more CFM. I also wonder how much large openings affect mixture distribution, and once you start increasing the opening angle, the flap starts getting closer to the discharge tubes. Has anyone found a "best" setting for secondary air valve opening (as measured from choke horn). Does it really matter that much in a practical application?
