 Going to Q 16 on a 1450 CFM gas carb

I rebuilt an engine for a truck pull friend. It has run successfully for a season. Now he asked me to tune up his carb for Q 16. The engine is a 485" with 2.40" intake valve, 850"+ cam, and turns 8500+ Rpm. Single four cast intake. 1450 CFM. (Don't have the carb here yet.)

He asked me to increase the fuel by 6% for Q 16. I can figure the main jet size area needs to do this, but do I need to make any air bleed adjustment too? Different metering block restrictions? Other things to look at? Timing change for Q 16?

He also wants to be able to go back to regular race gas, depending on where he is running. I was thinking about whether he needs 2 separate sets of metering blocks?

Post pics of the metering blocks when you get it. I've run a 1450 QF body carb I built, as well as 2.200 to 2.800 throttle blade carbs on Q16, so getting you a good starting point won't be hard. If it's the QFX, it depends on which metering blocks it was built with, early or late, with or without idle feed tubes..

Thank you Mark. I think I still have your email and will send pics direct. Maybe have you just supply complete blocks. May be a week or two.
