I am helping a guy with a sbc 406 with 18 degree eldebrock victor jr cylinder heads. The engine has 36 degrees total timing now. I think the timing needs to be more like 32 degrees. The engine has not be on any kind of dyno. I have not done any testing at the track yet with timing. The engine specs are 13 to 1 compression, cam is intake 282 @ 50 & ex 288 @ 50. 720 lift on a 111 lsa. This cam is also a 4&7,2&3 swap cam. The heads flow 323 @ 700 lift on the intake & 260 @ 700 on the exhaust. If more info is needed I will try to get it. Thanks for any help.

When induction and combustion efficiency are good the air and fuel mix is more homogenous and requires less timing. I would expect those to be somewhere between a good 18˚ and a set of Vortec heads, maybe 32-34˚. My SB2's run 29˚.
