Last year I did the external coil conversion on my HEI using the above Blue Streak coil. Noticed right away that ignition performance wasn't as good as with the GM in -cap coil (GM ZZ4 distributor). Last week, I replaced it with the cheaper NAPA Standard T series coil. I believe thats the coil Tuner recommends. Now starts faster and hot idle was about 40 rpm higher. Only difference was the in-cap coil secondary resistance was 6.9k ohms, the Blue Streak was 8.2k ohms, and the Napa coil was 7.1k ohms. All 3 had the same primary resistance of 0.5 ohms. Best of all, the box had some dust on it and it said "Made in USA"!

I like this ones heat sink/mount and for retrofits that the primary wires don't need a special connector.

On the MSD TFI it like they changed a lot since I last looked at them 5 years ago!
I'm interested in a TFI style both for use with a MSD 6T instead of the Blaster SS or an oil filled and possibly with a stock Duraspark. Thing is with the Duraspark, I think it needs to be stock type coil so the total resistance is correct as their is no current limiter. Thats why I picked up the Blue Streak version. Figured it could work out for either or both but still very interested in alternatives.

So which ignition was the MSD 8227 with when it died? The 6AL, the HEI or your digital? {Edited: Never mind, I see its the HEI}
