This is FWIW. I have no skin in this game!
I just recently repaired a vintage BG 4779-S3 Holley main body that had a stripped thread for a float bowl screw. The screws are a 12-24 thread
You can use a helicoil repair kit but the Time-Sert threaded insets are slicker than sliced bread for fixing this.
You drill out the old thread, tap the hole and screw in a special stainless insert. Then the insert is locked permanently in place by the installation tool which expands the last few threads.
What you want is the # 0124 kit with eight 01242 stainless thread insets that are .300 long. You must buy the stainless inserts. They give you ferrous inserts but that's not for fuel.
The kit consists of a drill a special tap and the installer for the inserts. It's easy to do, but the kit is costly - around $60 The stainless inserts are +/- $2.50 each. Do them all!
The results were perfect, where as, if you don't do a lot of helicoil work, it may not come out so perfect.
google timesert They make inserts for numerous thread sizes and spark plugs
