Saw a pic of a carb with the 2 secondary discharge nozzles with a large hole drilled in the vertical axis near the baffle. No explanation why it was done. Only one i've seen done. Any ideas of why you would drill the nozzles?

What is the carb number? Hole facing up or down?

The carb was a 17057274 from a 77 400 Pontiac Trans Am. The hole was drilled clear thru top of the tube to bottom.

I found the tubes (like you describe) I took out of a 17057272 when I modified it for use on a 250 Chevy 6. They have .106" holes on top and bottom. I have no idea the purpose and that's why I replaced them with normal tubes. I think the hole on the bottom would affect distribution and the one on the top would act as a bleed and make it leaner. I recall the carb came off a '79 Buick and has an external nipple for connecting the power piston to a vacuum source, like a Turbo Buick carb – though the car was not a turbo car, and it was an original, one owner, not molested, old-person's car when it was wrecked and the guy I did the carb for scrapped it.
