Who's using what sensors with their Racepak? Specifically, Fluid temps and MAP.

I'm using the GM type coolant temp sensors and have been unsuccessful in programming them. I also use a G type MAP sensor and not have had luck with that either.

Everything else is fine.

No help here. I've only used the Racepak ones.

With Help from Greg Kelley I got all my sensors working. Now just got to get more comfortable with the software.

I was able to use all the temp sensors and MAP sensor from my Innovate stuff.

The confusion came from the lack of what I would call clear documentation on what went where within the USM auxiliary box terminals. The sensors are 0-5 volt and there is a 5 volt terminal in the USM. I had one wire of the sensor to the 5 volt terminal and the other to ground. The correct way is one wire to the sensor terminal and the other to ground. Then a drop down menu in the software takes care of all the programming.

The MAP sensor was a bit more problematic. Wiring was straight forward within the USM with the MAP terminal C to 5 volts, terminal A to ground, and Terminal B to the sensor position.

Programming within the DataLinkII software was this way:

VNet ID = Pan Vacuum x20B
Sensor = 0-5 volts
Value A 5 volts will become -20
Value B .99 volts will become 0
Minimum value is 0, maximum -20
two digits before the decimal point, one after.

That's it.

I'm adding some new sensors to my RacePak data recorder. I ordered a shock sensor and an additional oxygen sensor. Of course I had to add some new channels so it required purchasing some new firmware. This way I will have oxygen sensors in both the number one cylinder and the number eight cylinder which will give me a chance to see what's going in the front half of the engine and in the back half.

If I had had my wits about me or had bought the the data recorder before I bought the new gauges I would've added a new race Pak panel. The difference is only about $40 between the two. I really miss not having a direct O2 readout like I had with the innovate data recorder. The only way I'm going to get that is probably go to the RacePak.

The shock sensor install is going to require some fabrication of a bracket on the shock so we can get an accurate count of what's going on. I'm using the old-fashioned poor man's string pot sensor for the shock absorber. This'll be just like the one on Scott Smith's Camaro.
