 MSD rusty reluctor

Broke and replaced my reluctor awhile ago and it keeps rusting on my old MSD.

Was thinking bout rying to coat it but it'll prob just rust under that since the metal is junk.

If it's an iron or steel might try some gun blue.

Does the fact that it is rusted affect its performance?

Probably not, it just has to generate a signal in the magnetic pickup as it goes by.

Thx guys I decided to try some clear nail polish, so I can see if it rust under.

If it gets too rusty it won't run according to a few diff sorces online, it's a know msd problem I guess. Well for certain years they made the dist or replacement reluctors.
